Vietnam Museum of EthnologyUnder the Vietnamese Academy of Social Sciences, Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is a museum of ethnography which focuses on the 54 officially recognized ethnic groups in Vietnam. It is located on Nguyen Van Huyen Street, Cau Giay District, about 8 km from the city center.

The main functions of the museum: Scientific research on the people of Vietnam, collection, classification, evaluation, preservation, restoration, display, exploitation, introduction of the historical and cultural values of the nation, while providing ethnographic materials. For over 10 years of construction and development, up to now, the Vietnam Museum Ethnology in Vietnam have become cultural destination-history attracts many foreign tourists enjoy visiting. On the area of 3 hectares, the museum has been built by the architect Ha Duc Linh (the Tay), interior by the French architect. Currently, the museum is preserving 25.000 objects of all kinds, 42.000 movies, hundreds of cassettes and other objects reflect all aspects of the 54 ethnics groups living on Vietnam soil.

The museum also has the presence of water puppet occurs frequently. On the weekends, families have time to go there and tiring after the day of work. In the large space, water puppet brings tourists to the cultural values nature of Vietnam’ folklore, which makes us feel more respectful and proud of the colorful culture.

The museum is considered as the finest modern museum in Vietnam as well asa tourist attraction in Hanoi. Annual number of tourists is always tens of thousands of people. To serve visitors, all information in the display, as well as in the article notes is done by three languages: Vietnamese, English and French.

Opening hours of the museum is 8:30am to 5:30pm, from Tuesday to Sunday.
